Somethings I have learned along the way

I have been reading alot of books lately. I read
Blue Light Jazz I love the way he tells his story. I especially love the chapter on Confession.

and I also read The Red Tent
This book was hard for me to read at times because I was always asking myself if this is true...but then about half way through I let go and really enjoyed all it had to share. The story of a woman and her life. Midrash is something I truly am beginning to love.

The quote that I stole from this last book was:
"The painful things...seemed like the knots on a beautiful necklace, necessary for keeping the beads in place."
Anita Diamant The Red Tent pg. 264

I would love to do what my creative writing teacher in high school did...he started us out every period with either a quote or a question and we had to just write about it non-stop for 15 minutes. Anyone wanna join my group? It could be like your fun friday photo things or drawing deals. Maybe there is already one out there that I can join....this would inspire me.

Last but not least I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I cannot wait to see Naria when it comes out in December. It's strange to read books you loved as a child but never read yourself. Plus, to have the adult understanding on this book is a lot of fun.
What have you been reading blog world?

Kwisten...

hey!
I haven't talked to you for forever, but I just looked up my name on technorati.com and found I'm linked on Steph's blog and found this Nick person and noticed he is on you blog too and I am just like "holy CRAP! what a writer!" Who is this person and how do I meet him...

I just posted a comment on his blog and just started to gush like a fool.

He probably thinks I'm this stalker weirdo now...but wow...
what a thinker...what a writer...

anyway...

miss you...love you...

I'd like that writing thing...

I read the red tent this summer. I have the uncanny ability to put everything away of "is this true?". I really liked it and made me appreciate the richness of women and their roles in community.

I listened to the Red Tent on audio and thoroughly enjoyed it. I never knew audio books could take the place of reading and it can't if you want to go back to a certain page, but it can make driving more of a pleasure. True, you have to suspend thoughts about how "true" to life it is, because we can't know. I had always heard the story of Leah and Rachel and thought Rachel got a bad deal, but maybe not.
