Latest Montana wonder

As my staff and I were talking in the office today about population and what not, phone numbers came up and I realized...

I moved from an area where we shared 6 different area codes to a state that only has one.

I moved to Cary, Illinois in 1989 and we had two different first three number digits, 639 and 516 and that was new in 1989. Now they have 4. In the town I live in now, Marion, we have two also, but up until about 3 years ago, there was only one and it was not only 854 for everyone, but 854-2 was the first 4 digits of EVERYONE'S number!!!

These things fascinate me, and I had to share!

Nice...great..yea. Now that I've been enlightened and while we're on the subject of prefixes, mine are 539 and 291. Now, where the hell did you go? I'm still on hold since Saturday! ;))

Anonymous: you're still on hold from Saturday? I'm sorry, but the party you've reached is unavailable, please hang up and try your call again later.

Are you from California?
